Danville Youth Hockey Association welcomes all levels

DANVILLE, Ill. — Danville is full of opportunities for youth, and one of those great opportunities is offered through The Danville Youth Hockey Association (DYH) to teach children valuable skills and character development all while having fun playing the sport! Children who participate in the league learn skills according to a curriculum known as the American Developmental Model (ADM). The ADM encourages small area games that are tailored to the learning needs of youth. The practices are intended to be simple and high paced, encouraging learning through fun-filled repetition.

The Danville Youth Hockey Association currently offers 2 choices for teams, Minorhawks (Learn to Play) and Regular Team. Minorhawks can be any age, but this team is typically comprised of 4-7 year olds who are ready to be taught basic skating and hockey skills. Sessions for Minorhawks typically last 4 weeks with 8, 1-hour long practices. The benefit to joining Minorhawks is that players are provided equipment in exchange for a $50 deposit that is refunded at the conclusion of the season. Each session costs $85, and there are 4 sessions provided per year. The intent of Minorhawks is to develop children who are ready for team level competition.
