Top 5 coaching candidates for the Arizona Cardinals
Ben Johnson
Johnson is more of a longshot but could certainly be the Cardinals’ attempt at a home-run hire. In his first year as the Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator, he turned the Lions offense into a formidable force. Detroit ranked fifth in points scored per game (26.6) and were top 10 in other offensive statistics. Running back Jamaal Williams broke Barry Sanders’ franchise record for rushing touchdowns in a season (16). It was also the first time since 2013 that the Lions had both a 1,000-yard rusher and 1,000-yard receiver. Johnson’s part in the turnaround of the Lions’ offense cannot be overstated and given the talent on the Cardinals, it’s believable that he could turn around that offense as well.
