Batesville boys basketball defeats SR to win Ripley County title
BATESVILLE, Ind. — The Batesville High School boys varsity basketball team defeated South Ripley 67-64 to win the Ripley County tournament.
The Bulldogs trailed 13-11 at the end of the first quarter, but countered with a 24 point effort in the second to take a 35-29 lead into halftime. The lead continued to grow in the third quarter and was 55-40 at the break. South Ripley mounted a comeback and had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer.
Cole Pride finished with a game-high 31 points and was later named the tournament Most Valuable Player. Gus Prickel and Cade Kaiser each finished with 10 points followed by Sam Johnson with nine points.
In addition to Pride, Jack Grunkemeyer, Johnson and Kaiser were named to the all-tournament team.
