The most money earned, and missed, in NFL Week 18 incentives
Geno Smith earns $2 million
Smith was already having a fantastic season in 2023 thanks to a career renaissance as the Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback. In fact, Smith had already earned $2.25 million in bonuses heading into the final week thanks to his playing time, Pro Bowl and passing yards. However, Smith was set to be able to make $2 million more if he broke the team’s single-season passing yardage record and the team made the playoffs.
Needing just 114 or more yards, Smith threw for 213 yards to secure the first million with his play. After leading the Seahawks to a 19-16 victory over the Los Angeles Rams, Smith just had to wait for the Detroit Lions to beat the Green Bay Packers to earn the other million thanks to his team making the playoffs.
While securing a playoff berth was the real prize for Seattle, Detroit's win over the Green Bay was extra sweet for Geno Smith.
By playing 80% of the snaps AND making the playoffs, Smith earned an additional $1M incentive.
