Top 5 offensive coordinator options for the New England Patriots
4. Chad O’Shea
O’Shea is a much more experienced option compared to someone like Welker, and is another guy who has New England ties. From 2009-2018, O’Shea was the Patriots’ wide receivers coach, serving on the offensive staffs of O’Brien and McDaniels. Since, the longtime coach has gone on to serve as offensive coordinator of the Dolphins as he followed another Patriots assistant in Brian Flores to Miami in 2019. The past three seasons, he has served as wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator for the Cleveland Browns under Kevin Stefanski. He oversaw a relatively successful offense that made the playoffs in 2020, and despite an ugly 2021, the passing game in Cleveland stayed afloat for the most part this season even with Jacoby Brissett under center at the beginning, and a quarterback who hadn’t played football for 700 days in Deshaun Watson to close the year. Between that experience and his longevity with the Patriots’ staff previously, O’Shea seems like a legit candidate for the job.
