Meet Concord Christian School basketball player Noah Gilder
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — For Concord Christian School (CCS) basketball player Noah Gilder, this seems to be his year. After recovering from a fractured spine between sophomore and junior years, the senior had a very successful start this season averaging 25 points per game on 49% shooting from the floor. Noah believes hard work and skill are more important than natural talent, and he has definitely put in the work after his injury kept him out for nine months. By the grace of God and Noah’s motivation, he has more than made up for the time missed on the court.
CCS basketball Head Coach Justin Zachary tells his players that in the midst of adversity lies opportunity. “I’ve seen this reign true in my life,” said Noah, “through my back injury and other injuries that I thought were the end (of my game) but without them I would have never tapped into the level of work ethic I have.”
Being very competitive can bring up big emotions while playing in a game and Noah relies on his family and friends, as well as praying for a change of heart, to manage his emotions so they don’t distract him from his game. “Being a member of a team has taught me that you can’t do it all by yourself but you can drag everyone down all by yourself,” said Noah.
Noah strives to be the hardest working person in the room and is hoping to play college basketball on scholarship in the future.
