DeMeco Ryans: Top 5 head coaching spots for 49ers DC

DeMeco Ryans: Top 5 head coaching spots for 49ers DC

3. Houston Texans

The Texans drafted Ryans with the No. 33 overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft and bringing him back as head coach would provide a jolt of energy to the franchise’s fanbase sorely in need of some. Houston hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2019 and arguably has the least amount of overall talent of any team on this list. Rookie safety Jalen Pitre impressively led the team in both total tackles (147) and interceptions (5) this season but the franchise remains in search of its franchise quarterback. Luckily, the Texans hold the No. 2 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and should be able to draft the QB of their choice. The addition of Bryce Young (or C.J. Stroud) and Ryans as head coach in the same offseason could set Houston up for success. The Texans completed an interview with Ryans for their head coaching position on Friday.
