Penn girls swim and dive wins NIC Championship Meet

MISHAWAKA, Ind. — The Penn Kingsmen Girls Swimming and Diving team took first place at the Northern Indiana Conference Championship Meet at the Elkhart Aquatic Center, with a team score of 639 points. The Kingsmen overwhelmed their competitors, with the next highest team score from South Bend Adams at 399 points. South Bend Riley took third place with 358 points.

This is the school’s third straight win at the NIC. Junior Lily Christianson set two new meet records Saturday in the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.16) and the 100-yard backstroke (56.33). She set a state record in the 50-yard freestyle at last years’ IHSAA state meet.

Anika Guenther finished first in the 200-Yard freestyle (1:55.80) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.41). The Kingsmen won 9 of the 12 events, incluing all 3 relay events, to help them win their third consecutive league meet and 26th in the program’s history.

Seniors on the Penn Girls team this year include Arriana Beckham, Caila Dehner, Jordan Koszyk, and Tory Temeles. Juniors are Kaitlin Barba, Zoe Bishop, Lilian Christianson, Ebba Fox, Sia Grewal, Brooklyn Megyesi, Ella Sherwood, Emma Szymanski, and Avery Woods. Sophomores are Hailey Crampton, Vanessa Domalewski, Emily Eby, Anika Guenther, Grace Harrell, Emma Hayes, Devyn Keller Isabel Leader, Fallon Murphy, Molly Schuman, Brianna Skalski, Kaitlin Trembath, and Audrey Wasmer. Freshmen are Londyn DuVal, Elizabeth Marion, Mylea McKay, Layla Miller, Emmi Richards, and Alayna Riggins.
