Spain Park wrestling team’s January results
HOOVER, Ala. — The Spain Park wrestling team has been enjoying a successful season. Below are some key results from January events.
On Saturday, January 21, Spain Park JV wrestlers competed at Pelham High School, placing third and crowning a champion at 195 lbs.
Champion:
195 Dakarai Shanks (2-0) placed 1st with two pins.
Second:
145 Drake Gregory (2-1) placed 2nd with a pin and decision.
220 Levi Howard (2-1) placed 2nd with two pins.
Third:
126 Patrick Mcqueeney (2-1) placed 3rd with a pin and a decision.
145 Jack Lutenbacher (2-1) placed 3rd with two pins.
Fourth:
126 Kyle Fairless (1-2) placed 4th with a decision.
On Monday. Jan 16, despite only competing in ten of fourteen weight classes, the wrestling team placed second at the Dick Clem Memorial hosted by Bob Jones High School and crowned two champions with eight medalists.
Champions:
140 Bradley Williams (3-0) placed 1st with a pin and two tech falls.
172 Jackson Mitchell (3-0) placed 1st with three decisions.
January 14-15, the Spain Park wrestling team competed in the Southeastern Pools at Thompson High School, placing second.
The Jags crowned four champions:
138 Bradley Williams (6-0) placed 1st with two pins and four tech falls.
170 Jackson Mitchell (5-0) placed 1st with four pins and a tech fall.
182 William Conlon (5-0) placed 1st with three pins, a major decision, and a forfeit.
285 Rayshod Burts (5-0) placed 1st with two pins, a major decision, a decision, and a forfeit
