Smartest NFL QBs in the NFC by GPA, degree, Wonderlic score

NFC NORTH

Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers)

Rodgers had a 3.6 GPA in high school. The QB, who transferred out of Butte College, opted for an American studies major when he landed with the California Golden Bears. Although he never received an undergraduate degree, in 2018, he received an honorary doctorate of humanities degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. His Wonderlic test score from the 2005 NFL Combine was 35/50 (above average).

Jared Goff (Detroit Lions)

Goff had a 3.7 GPA in high school. The QB majored in sociology while playing for the California Golden Bears. It’s unclear if he achieved his bachelor’s after forgoing his senior season to enter NFL Draft. His Wonderlic test score from the 2016 NFL Combine was 36/50 (above average).

Justin Fields (Chicago Bears)

Fields had a 3.9 GPA in high school. The QB who transferred out of Georgia to play at Ohio State majored in consumer and family financial services. It’s unclear if he attained his bachelor’s after forgoing his senior season to enter the NFL Draft. Although his Wonderlic test score from the 2021 NFL Combine is N/A, Fields did in fact set an all-time record on a different mental aptitude test after he was drafted.

Kirk Cousins (Minnesota Vikings)

Cousins had a 4.0 GPA in high school. The Michigan State QB graduated with a degree in kinesiology and a 3.68 GPA. He also received an honorary doctorate of humanities at MSU’s Class of 2019’s commencement ceremony. His Wonderlic test score from the 2012 NFL Combine was 33/50 (above average).
