A disappointing overtime loss in the AFC Conference Championship game against the New England Patriots in 2019 ended Mahomes’ efforts of locking down a Super Bowl appearance in his first year as the starting quarterback. In his second full season as the starter, Mahomes helped the Kansas City Chiefs to an 11-3 record with wins over the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans in the lead up to their Super Bowl LIV appearance. Behind 286 passing yards and two touchdowns, Mahomes locked down his first Lombardi Trophy and Super Bowl MVP award.
