Ranking UConn women’s basketball’s top 10 players of all time
10. Nykesha Sales (1994-98)
Sales helped UConn to a perfect 35-0 record and the program’s first national championship as a freshman. The 6-foot guard was the 1995 Big East Rookie of the Year, the 1998 Big East Player of the Year and the inaugural winner of the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year honor. A two-time All-American, Sales still holds the single-game program record for points (46 vs. Stanford) in addition to the single-season (143) and career record (447) for steals. She ended her UConn career with an Achilles’ tendon tear on Senior Day, but left as the program’s all-time leading scorer (2,178) before another Husky overtook her.
