Ranking the top 10 UConn men’s basketball players of all time
5. Shabazz Napier (2010-14)
Napier was a key factor in not just one, but two national championships for the Huskies. He appeared in all 41 games and sank a pair of game-clinching free throws in a Final Four win over Kentucky before helping capture the 2011 national championship. After the retirement of Calhoun and a postseason ban during his junior season, Napier returned for his senior campaign and was awarded the inaugural American Athletic Conference Player of the Year award. The Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year winner led UConn to its second national championship in four years and was named the 2014 Most Outstanding Player. Napier’s 1,959 career points are the fourth most in program history and the undersized guard is one of the top-five Huskies ever.
