Every Heisman Trophy winner to win a Super Bowl championship
Paul Hornung, Green Bay Packers, Super Bowl I
The very first Super Bowl also had its first Heisman winner become a champion. Hornung starred as the quarterback for Notre Dame from 1954-56, winning the Heisman following a 1956 season that saw him throw for 917 yards and three touchdown passes along with 420 rushing yards and six more scores.
After being selected by the Packers with the first overall pick in the 1957 NFL Draft, Hornung played a key role for Green Bay for nine seasons. However, in his final season of 1966, a pinched nerve in his neck cost him most of the campaign including the Super Bowl, though he was rostered which allows him to be included on this list.
The Heisman Trust mourns the passing of Paul Hornung. A true legend in every sense of the word, Paul was a cherished member of the Heisman family. We extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Angela. He will truly be missed. – Mike Comerford, President of the Heisman Trust pic.twitter.com/fEexWDPG0L
