Meet Dothan baseball players Haze McCorkel and Brody Lindsey

DOTHAN, Ala. — Haze McCorkel and Brody Lindsey have a lot in common. Both were born and raised in Dothan.

Both have attended Dothan City Schools from elementary school to the present. Both started their baseball career playing t-ball through Dothan Leisure Services. And both are very excited that Dothan Wolves baseball is in full swing (pun intended).

Brody will spend his senior season on the pitcher’s mound. He has high hopes for this season. He said, “We definitely have more to look forward to this year than last year because we were so young last year. I don’t think we will just make playoffs but win playoffs.” Brody said that his favorite thing is winning. “I hate losing. I like to just get after it and help my team win,” he said. Off the baseball field, Brody has recently added another sport, golf. He said that he is good at hitting that little ball hard, but after that, “I don’t know where it goes so it is definitely just for fun.” Brody recently signed a baseball scholarship with Southern Union Community College. His professional goal is to become a physical therapist or have a career in sports medicine.

Haze has baseball in his blood. His dad, Shawn McCorkel, played at Northview High School, Florida State University, and was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 1998. Haze is a junior and returning outfielder for the Wolves. He predicts that the team will have a very good year. He said, “With all of the experience we have, we should be really good this year. I feel sure that we not only can win area, but I think we can go deep in the playoffs.” His goal is to play at the next level and is says that he is “in the zone of getting interest from colleges”. A more immediate goal is to get bigger and stronger through weightlifting. Haze is interested in becoming an engineer or a coach.

One more thing the two have in common…they have both been in the middle of the award-winning Dothan High student section cheering on the football and basketball teams this year. They feel confident the student section will be strong for the baseball team. We will be over here cheering for you, too! Here’s to a great season guys!
