Top 10 California high school baseball players in Class of 2023
2. Ralph Velazquez, 1B, Huntington Beach
Velazquez was dominant throughout his junior season – batting .316 on the year with nine home runs and 25 RBIs – but he was particularly special when the Oilers needed him the most. He hit .535 with five home runs and 16 RBIs over the final 12 games of the season as Huntington Beach won the Southern California Division I championship. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound senior is already being compared to New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge and will soon make Arizona State Sun Devils fans very happy – if MLB doesn’t come calling first.
