Ranking the top 10 Daytona 500 races of all time
7. 1993
The 1993 running of the Daytona 500 has been dubbed by many as “The Dale and Dale Show.” This version of the race featured several lead changes as well as some significant wrecks, but when it came to the end, it was Dale Earnhardt Sr. battling a young Dale Jarrett. Arguably the best driver in NASCAR at the time, Earnhardt Sr. was trying to get the monkey off his back and win his first Daytona 500. Meanwhile, Jarrett surprised many in the No. 18 car for a relatively new Joe Gibbs Racing team. With Earnhardt Sr. seemingly in control, Jarrett made a pass on the last lap to take home the victory. It was the first of three Daytona 500 wins for the 1999 Winston Cup Series champion, and it was made extra special by the fact that his father, Ned Jarrett, was on the call of the race for CBS Sports.
