NASCAR Cup Series’ best by car number: 80-89
No. 85 (1951-2002)
The No. 85 is the seventh-least used car number in NASCAR history with 141 starts (22 top-five finishes and 44 top-10 finishes). It also had the least amount of drivers out of any car numbered in the 80s (31 drivers).
The 85 car has seen two wins thanks to Emanuel Zervakis in 1961. Zervakis is one of two drivers for the car to have a top-five finish – with 21 total – and he’s one of the few to have a top-10 finish (38).

Fireball Roberts and Bob Prince were the first to get behind the wheel with a combined two races and the car would only see double-digit races in the late 1950s and early 60s thanks to Carl Tyler and Emanuel Zervakis. The last to get behind the wheel was Carl Long with one race in 2002.
