Top 10 Utah high school baseball players in Class of 2023
7. Grant Scholzen, SS, Hurricane
Another elite position player, Scholzen was a standout for an underwhelming Hurricane Tigers team. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound shortstop is ranked as the No. 11 player in the state by Perfect Game and the No. 5 player in the state by PBR.
During the season, Scholzen led Hurricane in batting average at .351 with 20 runs scored, 15 RBIs, four triples and a home run. This earned the shortstop Class 4A all-state honorable mention.
Despite the poor team performance, Scholzen was still able to find a home at a Division I baseball program. Scholzen signed with the University of the Pacific baseball team. Given his strong play as a junior, Scholzen will look to bring his Tigers more team success during his final year at Hurricane.
