Top 10 fastest 40-yard dash times at 2023 NFL combine
INDIANAPOLIS (BVM) – The fastest 40-yard dash times at the NFL scouting combine don’t always belong to the best prospects, but it might be the showcase’s most important event. NFL draft prospects show off their speed – arguably the sport’s most coveted physical trait – in hopes of impressing scouts and improving their stock.
Last year, 33 players posted a blazing 40 time of 4.40 seconds or faster, including a couple speedsters who made an impact as rookies. Former UTSA star and Seattle Seahawks cornerback Tariq Woolen ran a 4.26 40 time at the 2022 NFL scouting combine (just .04 off the combine record set by John Ross in 2017) before he tied for the league lead in interceptions (6) as a first-year player.
Then there was former Rutgers standout Isiah Pacheco, who tied for the fastest 40 time among running backs (4.37) last year before helping the Kansas City Chiefs hoist the Lombardi Trophy behind his 76 rushing yards and a touchdown in Super Bowl LVII.
This year’s crop of NFL draft prospects could offer a similar return on investment. With speed often directly translating to the NFL, here are the top 10 fastest 40 times ran at the 2023 NFL scouting combine.
