Top 10 Illinois high school baseball players in Class of 2023
1. Dillon Head, OF, Homewood-Flossmoor
Dillon Head is not only Illinois’ top player in the Class of 2023, but he is one of the top high school prospects in the entire nation, and a likely early-round MLB draft selection this summer. If he doesn’t go straight to the pros, the 6-foot, 180-pound outfielder will play at Clemson after flipping his commitment from Michigan last summer. Whether he has been playing with Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School — where he hit .467 with six home runs, 28 RBIs and 45 runs last season — USA Prime National, at the USA/MLB Baseball Prospect Development Pipeline, or at the Area Code Games, Head has not only gained invaluable experience, but he has shined everywhere he has gone. A strong left-handed hitter with elite speed that makes him a threat on the base pads as well as a plus defender, Head figures to continue shining this spring for the Vikings and beyond.
Dillon Head is one of the more exciting prep players for the 2023 draft class. He has plus speed with a chance for above average or better power from the left side. Here's his triple off of RHP Aidan Keenan (one of the top prep arms)@DillonHead4 @ACBaseballGames pic.twitter.com/j3HGMOfzyu
