2023 MLB season preview: NL Central

(BVM) – Last season, the National League Central was seen by many as one of the weakest divisions in all of Major League Baseball. While it may look similar going into 2023, the division could be much more competitive this year, as some of the teams towards the bottom look to improve, while the division’s front runners hope some of their offseason changes propel them further than they went in 2022.

While the Reds remain in rebuild mode, the Pirates figure to be improved, as do the Cubs who hope to sneak up towards a playoff spot. Meanwhile, the Brewers are hoping to bounce back from a disappointing end to the 2022 campaign that saw them miss the playoffs for the first time in five years, and the Cardinals are hoping to make it back-to-back division titles despite the losses of some key veterans.

It should be an interesting season throughout the MLB, but particularly in this division. Here’s a look at each NL Central team and how the division figures to shake out in 2023.
