Top 5 NL breakout candidates for the 2023 MLB season
5. Jordan Walker, 3B/OF, St. Louis Cardinals
Walker is flying under the radar on a national level following his dominant spring performance. The 21st pick in the 2020 MLB Draft has hit for a .340 batting average this spring to go along with three home runs and five doubles. Still only 20 years old, the biggest question surrounding Walker’s upcoming season is the Cardinals’ plans for him. If Walker’s impressive spring is enough to land him on the Opening Day roster, he may just provide the Cardinals the needed bump to make a deep run in 2023. With Gold Glove third baseman Nolan Arenado already locking down the position for the foreseeable future, Walker may find his time in a crowded outfield that will have to utilize a committee at designated hitter.
