Get to know East View softball player Colby Trapp
GEORGETOWN, Texas — Get ready to meet Colby Trapp, the 16-year-old softball player who crushes it as a 10th grader at East View High School in Georgetown, Texas. This softball queen has been dominating the field for eight years, and her accomplishments are as impressive as her skills.
When asked how she manages her busy schedule, Colby responded, “Between AP classes, elite, and show choir, and tournament season for softball, my schedule is jam-packed. There’s not much time to just chill, but I love it.”
Colby is not just a softball superstar, but also a top-notch scholar with an impressive list of achievements. She’s made the All-A honor roll, National Honor Society, and 1st Team Academic All-District. She’s also won the GISD Multi-Sport Athlete Dr. Bill Farney Grit Award (Silver) and the Leader of the Pack award for guiding others to success. “I take pride in helping others recognize how well they are doing and take pride in their work,” said Colby.
One of Colby’s fondest softball memories dates back to when she was in 10u softball. “I was the only pitcher on my team, and in the end-of-season tournament, I pitched five games in one day, and our team won the championship!”
Colby chose softball because she wanted to do the same things as her older brother, who played baseball. Softball has taught her the value of hard work and patience, and it has played a significant role in her life.
“When we’re competing, the best part is the energy of the team and working together to win the game,” said Colby. Her ultimate goal is to finish in the top ten of her class and get into the best college possible, where she hopes to continue playing softball. “In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy the game as much as possible,” she added.
As for her team, Colby would love to see them make the playoffs all four years of her high school career and even win a state title. Her team practices for about two hours after school every day and puts in extra work outside of practice.
Colby rocks third base for her high school team and even fills in as a backup pitcher. During the summer, she dominates as a pitcher for her select team while still slaying at third base. Colby has played every position except for centerfielder and catcher – there’s nothing she can’t do!
“Softball is so much fun and such a big part of my life. I can’t imagine playing any other sport,” she added. With her talent and dedication, Colby is sure to achieve great things in the future. Watch out world, here comes Colby Trapp!
