Ranking the top 10 New Jersey Devils players of all time
10. Claude Lemieux, RW (1990-95, 2000)
Lemieux’s career began with Montreal Canadiens, and he played there until 1990 when he was traded to the Devils. He helped New Jersey win its first-ever title in 1995, defeating the Detroit Red Wings in four games. Lemieux also won the Conn Smythe Trophy, given to the MVP of a team during the NHL’s Stanley Cup playoffs that year, after scoring 13 goals.
Lemieux was traded to the Colorado Avalanche and played there for five seasons before being traded back to New Jersey, where he won another Stanley Cup in 2000.
Claude Lemieux’s memorable breakaway goal on June 13, 1995, gave the #NJDevils a 4-1 lead over the Flyers in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final. The Devils would win, 4-2, to earn their first trip to the Stanley Cup Final!
