How each head coach made it to 2023 men’s NCAA Final Four
Brian Dutcher, San Diego State
At 63 years old, Dutcher is a college basketball lifer. He got his first assistant coaching job in 1986 and has not left the industry since. In 1989, Steve Fisher brought him to Michigan and then to San Diego State in 1999. He served as an assistant under Fisher for a total of 18 seasons and was a natural replacement for the Aztecs when Fisher retired in 2017.
Since taking over, Dutcher has consistently made SDSU a viable threat in the Mountain West Conference. San Diego State has won the conference in three of Dutcher’s six seasons. This is the second 30-win season of his tenure and he has a total of 150 wins at the helm.
