7-foot Will Baker enters transfer portal; Top 5 landing spots
RENO, Nev. (BVM) – Will Baker just wrapped up the best season of his college basketball career and now, the 7-foot center has entered the transfer portal.
The redshirt junior spent three seasons (two as an active player) at Nevada after transferring from Texas and averaged career highs in both points (13.6) and rebounds (5.2) during the 2022-23 campaign. In addition to shooting 56% from the field (also a career high), Baker flashed his range for a big man by shooting 35% from deep as a third-team All-Mountain West selection.

The Austin, Texas native started all 32 games for the Wolf Pack this season and played some of his best basketball during a 10-day stretch in January. During an 85-70 win over Utah State on Jan. 13, Baker dropped 24 points to go along with six rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal. Then during a 97-94 double-overtime victory over No. 25 New Mexico just 10 days later, the former top-40 recruit scored a career-high 28 points while pulling down five boards and dishing out three assists.

Baker isn’t Nevada’s only loss to the transfer portal – Mountain West freshman of the year Darrion Williams and former top-150 national recruit Trey Pettigrew both entered the portal earlier this offseason – but he’s arguably the Wolf Pack’s biggest. Entering his fifth college season with up to two years of eligibility remaining, Baker should be immediately eligible at his next school as a graduate transfer once he earns his undergraduate degree (journalism) from Nevada this spring.
With that in mind, here are the top five landing spots for Baker after entering the transfer portal.
