Indianapolis Colts mock draft 2023: Pick-by-pick predictions
No. 35, Round 2: Steve Avila, G, TCU
While some fans will likely want to see a cornerback in this spot, given the depth at the position in the draft and the lack of high-end interior line contributors in later rounds, Avila is the pick here. The TCU guard helped lead the Horned Frogs to a national championship game appearance and is considered one of the most athletic interior offensive linemen in the draft. With Avila, the Colts would have a guard-center-guard combo of All-Pro Quenton Nelson, first-round pick Ryan Kelly and Avila, a second-round pick, which would help Jonathan Taylor and their new quarterback be as productive as possible.
