Kansas City Chiefs mock draft 2023: Pick-by-pick predictions

No. 217, Round 6: DeMarcco Hellams, S, Alabama

It’s been a lot of offensive selections for a team that is already strong on that side of the ball, but with their last few picks, the Chiefs hone in on the defensive end. That begins at pick No. 217 with the selection of Hellams out of Alabama. Hellams was a solid four-year player on Nick Saban’s defense, and has a nose for making hits as evidenced by his 108 total tackles in his senior season. Hellams is a versatile safety who has 4.5 speed, and he could find his way into the rotation eventually in Kansas City.
