Lauren Betts enters transfer portal; Top 5 landing spots
STANFORD, Calif. (BVM) – Lauren Betts is entering the transfer portal after her freshman season at Stanford. Betts averaged about nine minutes a game for the Cardinal with 5.9 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 60.2% from the field. Stanford was a one-seed in the NCAA Women’s Tournament but lost in the second round to Ole Miss.
Betts’ decision to leave the Cardinal after just one season and as a former No. 1 recruit from the Class of 2022 is a big deal. It’s not something seen often in college basketball, especially when the top recruit is leaving an elite program like Stanford.
A five-star recruit from Colorado, Betts averaged a double-double at Grandview High School with 17.1 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.4 blocks. The 6-foot-7 center was a McDonald’s All-American and set to have a much bigger role with Stanford next season.
