Diamond Johnson enters transfer portal; Top 5 landing spots
Miami
The Canes lost both Haley and Hanna Cavinder as well as Destiny Harden at the end of the season. Losing Haley and Harden in particular is tough for the Canes as those two women were the leading scorers for a Miami team that made it to the Elite Eight. The Canes did pick up Arizona guard Lemyah Hylton in the transfer portal but could definitely add more scoring. Johnson could certainly be that scoring as she averaged more points than Haley and her 41.6% shooting from the field was also better. Johnson is familiar with the ACC, is a veteran leader and could certainly fill in for Miami’s losses. Miami also makes sense for Johnson because of the school’s proactive approach to NIL. Johnson recently partnered with McDonald’s in the North Carolina and Virginia area to promote drinks and becoming a Cane could open even more NIL doors for her.
