New York Giants mock draft 2023: Pick-by-pick predictions

No. 243, Round 7: Nick Hampton, Edge, Appalachian State

The Giants had the 13th-most sacks (41) in the NFL last season but the fewest among NFC East opponents. Thibodeaux, Dexter Lawrence and Leonard Williams can certainly get after the quarterback but an excellent pass rush in today’s NFL requires strong depth.

The 6-foot-2, 236-pound Hampton racked up 21 sacks over the last two seasons for the Mountaineers and generated an eye-popping 35 QB hurries in 2021. He’s an explosive pass rusher with a high motor who could shine in the Giants’ 3-4 scheme which he’s familiar with.
