Ranking the Pac-12’s top 5 freshmen softball players in 2023

3. River Mahler, INF, Stanford

Mahler is one of the best hitters in her class. The 5-foot-8 freshman from Monroe, Washington has recorded some solid numbers at the plate. Mahler is sixth in the nation among freshmen batting .411 to go with 17 RBIs and 20 runs scored. Plus she’s tied for fourth in the conference with 51 hits.

Her athletic genes run in the family. Mahler’s mom played shortstop at Washington. River is a two-sport star who excelled at volleyball in high school.
