Top 10 biggest Green Bay Packers NFL draft busts of all time
7. Derek Sherrod, OT, Mississippi State (2011, No. 32 overall)
Sherrod is one of the more recent first-round draft busts for the Packers, and although he didn’t go until No. 32 overall coming off Green Bay’s Super Bowl championship season in 2010, his career in the NFL still left a lot to be desired. Coming out of Mississippi State as a first-team All-SEC player, Sherrod looked like he had solid NFL potential at the tackle position.
However, he struggled to crack the line rotation as a rookie, and later that season, disaster struck as Sherrod broke his leg. The tackle missed the entirety of the 2012 season, and wasn’t the same player the following two years before calling it quits in the league. Without the injury, maybe Sherrod has a better career, but it is still a tough pill to swallow for the Packers when they could have added guys like Kyle Rudolph or Rodney Hudson instead.
