5 standouts from the Oklahoma Sooners’ spring game
1. Peyton Bowen, DB
While Arnold stood out on the offensive end, it was his high school teammate and one of the Sooners’ other five-star 2023 commits, Bowen, that impressed on defense. His day was made in large part thanks to one play relatively early in the game as Bowen tracked down a throw from starting quarterback Dillon Gabriel to make an interception, essentially running the route for wide receiver Andrel Anthony. It drew praise from many, including offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby. The 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back from Denton, Texas was tied as Oklahoma’s leading tackler among freshmen with teammate Jasiah Wagoner – who also very much looked the part on Saturday – as each player made three tackles. The future is bright on defense with those two guys, and Bowen’s highlight will likely be the first of many at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
