RayJ Dennis enters transfer portal; Top 5 landing spots
1. Illinois
Illinois has been rumored to be the favorite to land Dennis, and it should come as no surprise. First and foremost, Dennis is from Oswego, Illinois, about a two-and-a-half hour drive from Champaign. But more importantly, the talented 6-foot-2 guard just seems like an overall good fit in Brad Underwood’s system. There are some questions in the Illini backcourt right now as Terrence Shannon Jr. has declared for the NBA draft, while RJ Melendez has transferred to Georgia. With Coleman Hawkins also potentially heading to the pros, the Fighting Illini will need to find scoring for next season. While they have made a couple of transfer portal moves already, most notably bringing in Quincy Guerrier from Oregon, Dennis would be a big get for Underwood, and would get a chance to boost his NBA draft stock by playing in the Big Ten.
