Ian Martinez enters portal; 5 landing spots for sixth man
1. George Mason
Another Virginia-based school that may pull Martinez even more would be George Mason. While the program is undergoing change with a new head coach, the team hired top Maryland assistant Tony Skinn for the job. If he has a good relationship with Martinez, the two could reunite for the Patriots.
Skinn has been active already in the transfer portal, adding a number of DMV players including forward Woody Newton and guards Darius Maddox and Jared Billups. After losing a couple of players in the portal to Providence, George Mason could still use an experienced guard and Martinez fits the bill perfectly. If Skinn wants to establish his program in a similar way to what he learned at Maryland, Martinez could be the right start and the Patriots would also give Martinez the opportunity to prove his worth as a starter for a team looking to make an NCAA Tournament push.
