Top 10 Florida Gators football players of all time
3. Emmitt Smith, RB (1987-89)
Before going on to become the NFL’s all-time leading rusher, Smith made life hard on defenses as a Gator. He carried the ball more than any other Florida tailback to that point and broke Neal Anderson’s record for career rushing yardage. Only Errict Rhett has more than his 3,928 yards on the ground. Smith has the top two single-game rushing efforts in school history — 316 yards against New Mexico in 1989 and 224 against Alabama in 1987.
