Top 10 pitchers from the college baseball regular season
7. Hagen Smith, Arkansas
After starting 15 games as a freshman, Smith found himself in a much different role for Arkansas in 2023. Following injuries to many of the team’s key players, Smith was tasked with a multi-purpose role that would take him directly away from just being a starter. With 14 appearances on the year, the left-handed pitcher still came away with eight starts but finished with 58 innings of work. With an opportunity to grow on his game from the 2022 season, the 6-foot-3 pitcher actually worked to just four less strikeouts in nearly 20 less innings pitched in 2023, showcasing an ability to keep hitters off track. With the Razorbacks’ need for him to come in at different spots, Smith has been arguably the team’s most important arm out of the staff during this year’s campaign.
