MIAMI (BVM) – The new NIL era has become a hot topic around college athletics, as athletes continue to profit off of their name, image, and likeness through sponsorship deals with various organizations.
Recently, NIL has also trickled down to the high school level, with 28 states, as well as Washington D.C., permitting high school student-athletes to profit off of their name, image and likeness as of early May. Seven other states are currently considering allowing NIL deals for high school athletes, while 15 states have currently prohibited NIL deals at that level.
Unfortunately for high school athletes in the state of Florida, they are among the group that is yet to be able to profit from NIL. But, with the state having some of the best prep athletes across the entire nation, particularly when it comes to football, there are many stars poised to cash in once they reach the collegiate level.
