The Flyers needed to win a shootout to beat the New York Rangers in the season finale and then defeated the New Jersey Devils in the first round. Philadelphia’s next matchup came against Boston, where it fell into a 3-0 series deficit but came back and won in seven games.
After defeating the Montreal Canadiens in the Eastern Conference finals, the Flyers matched up with the Chicago Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Final but were defeated in six games.
