Weston Tennis advances to the quarterfinals after defeating Bartlett 5-0
WESTON, Mass. — It was another great day at Weston High School as Weston (1st) defeated Bartlett (16th) 5-0 in the round of 16 in the state tournament.
At one singles, Max Ding once again played a very strong match, winning 6-1, 6-0. Ding did a very good job of getting his first serve in and then attacking the next ball. This then allowed Ding to get to net and finish off the point there. Overall, it was a very strong match for Ding as he was able to win convincingly and control most of the points.
At two and three singles were Zach Regelman and Alex Ko, respectively. Ko won his match very quickly, winning 6-0, 6-0. Ko attacked his opponent’s short serves and maintained control of the points throughout the match. Regelman won 6-3, 6-2 in a relatively clean performance. One aspect of Regelman’s game that he has been working on is his volleying. In this match, Regelman tried to implement this a lot more, helping him to secure the victory.
At one doubles, Peter Chen and Winston Starrett once again put together a dominating performance, winning 6-0, 6-0. Their opponents couldn’t handle the pace that Chen and Starrett were putting on the ball, which allowed them to win a lot of points very easily.
Finally, at two doubles, Zunian Luo and Petar Stojanovic won 6-0, 6-1 in a strong performance from both seniors. Using their experience, they were able to get to net a lot during the match and finish off the points.
Overall, it was another very strong day for the Wildcats. They’ll face Manchester-Essex on Wednesday, June 7th.
