Top 5 NBA draft fits for Indiana guard Jalen Hood-Schifino
4. Los Angeles Lakers
There are a couple of teams on this list who are in win-now mode, and with aging stars in LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers are certainly one of them. As a result, maybe they look for a more-experienced option for their backcourt, or make a deal that involves them trading away pick No. 17. Yet, while there could be growing pains, Hood-Schifino may be able to step in and become a valuable piece for this Lakers squad, and could perhaps even be a building block should Los Angeles enter a rebuild down the road. Right now, the only guards under contract for the Lakers next season are Malik Beasley, Shaquille Harrison and Max Christie. The team needs to do something to address its backcourt, as D’Angelo Russell is an unrestricted free agent, while the emerging Austin Reaves is a restricted free agent, but could be overvalued by another team. If Hood-Schifino is available at No. 17, he could be a cheap option at point guard that would allow the Lakers to bring in another solid veteran piece or two.
