Despite some offseason moves which included trading away franchise cornerstones Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell, the Jazz held their own last season, and were one of the league’s surprising teams early on before faltering down the stretch to finish 37-45 and 12th in the West. Still, with a young roster headlined by last year’s breakout star Lauri Markkanen, Utah may only be a piece or two away from competing for a playoff spot, and Hood-Schifino could be one of those. Kris Dunn and Jordan Clarkson may be back this year, but both are aging guards who the Jazz soon may move on from. The team does also have Collin Sexton locked up for the next few seasons, but the bigger-bodied Hood-Schifino feels like he would be a good compliment to him. Regardless, Utah needs to add young pieces with potential over the next few years, and the Indiana guard fits that bill should the Jazz select him with pick No. 16.
