Top 10 highest-rated Michigan HS football players since 2000
9. Marco Cooper, LB, Cass Tech – 0.9918
Coming out of Cass Tech in Detroit, Cooper had immense upside and seemed poised for a standout career in college and beyond. That didn’t quite happen, but his high school career remains one of the best in Michigan, as he was rated as a five-star recruit and the No. 16-ranked player in the Class of 2000. As a senior, he racked up 118 tackles and forced three fumbles while becoming an All-American.
Cooper’s career led him south to Columbus, Ohio to play for the Ohio State Buckeyes. The linebacker played sparingly on defense and special teams during two seasons at Ohio State. Prior to the 2002 season, Cooper was suspended following an arrest, effectively ending what was once a bright football future.
