Top 10 highest-rated Michigan HS football players since 2000

8. Ernest Shazor, S, Martin Luther King – 0.9922

Shazor is one of a couple of Martin Luther King High School products on this list who had a tremendous high school career that saw him rack up over 200 tackles and over 20 interceptions in his final two seasons for the Crusaders. As a result, the all-state and All-American safety was a five-star prospect and rated as the top safety nationally in the Class of 2001.

Shazor decided to stay in state with the Michigan Wolverines for his college career, becoming a first-team All-American as he made 166 total tackles and four interceptions during his three seasons on the field in Ann Arbor.

The safety would forgo his final season of college eligibility, but went undrafted in 2005. Eventually, he latched on with the Arizona Cardinals, playing a couple of games in the NFL before signing with the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League.
