A three-year offensive line starter at Everett High School, Montelus slotted in as the state’s top–ranked player in the Class of 2013 after making an official commitment to Notre Dame. Playing left tackle for his junior and senior campaigns, Montelus helped Everett to three straight Massachusetts Division 1A Super Bowl titles during his prep run as he was named a first-team offensive lineman by the Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association. Montelus would begin his collegiate career with the Irish before moving on to play at Virginia for the 2017 season.
