Meet 300-Meter Lovejoy ISD district champion Talia Orshalick
LUCAS, Texas — Fourteen-year-old Talia Orshalick is an accomplished multi-sport athlete who runs track for the Lovejoy Independent School District and is a Company dance member with Cindy’s School of Dance. She is not only a member of an award-winning dance team but was also the district champion in the 300-meter hurdles and took 3rd place in district for the 4 x 400-meter Relay.
When we asked Talia what she loved about the sports she participates in, she told us, “For track – I love the competitive nature of the sport and the rush of energy I get when on the track. Coach Littlefield and Kailey Littlefield have both helped train and motivate me,” Talia continued, “They have made me love the sport more than I ever thought I could. With dance – I love being with a great group of friends and working as a team. I spend 12-15 hours a week dancing with the same girls, and they are all so encouraging and fun. I couldn’t imagine not being with my Cindy’s group.
With a caring, competitive, and fun personality, it’s no wonder that she not only lives by the motto of “Find the joy in life” but also understands that being a member of a team means you must motivate each other and encourage everyone to feel good about their performance.
Talia is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, volunteers each month at her church to run the cameras, is an avid gardener, and true animal lover. She is always up to date on available pets at the local shelters.
Talia’s goals are to continue both track and cross country through high school as a varsity athlete and continue competing as a Company dancer with Cindy’s while also joining the award-winning Lovejoy High School Majestics Dance Team. After high school, she would like to attend Texas A&M University and then continue on to study veterinary medicine.
