Where UGA football’s top-10 rated recruits of the 2000s are now
T-No. 5 – Kregg Lumpkin
Lumpkin’s 247 Sports composite rating of 0.9934 ties him as the fifth highest-rated UGA recruit of the 2000s.
The 6-foot, 190-pound running back graduated in 2003 from Stephenson High School (Georgia). He rushed for more than 2,000 yards as a HS junior. As a senior, he rushed for 1,400 yards to make a name for himself as the No. 2 RB in the country.
But, Lumpkin didn’t maintain his position as one of the best in the country while at UGA (tallied 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns in four seasons). After getting picked up as an undrafted free agent, Lumpkin played on three different teams in four seasons before he decided to leave the game and become a firefighter instead.
Today, the 39-year-old is the chief of training at Newton County Fire Service, according to his LinkedIn.
