Tim Anderson trade rumors heating up; Top 5 landing spots
CHICAGO (BVM) – The Chicago White Sox have been one of the most disappointing teams in Major League Baseball over the last two years. After an underwhelming, 81-81 finish to the 2022 season, the White Sox have struggled out of the gate again in 2023 and now appear to be “opening up for business as a seller,” according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.
Sitting at 38-54 and eight games out of first place in a weak AL Central at the All-Star break, Chicago plans to seriously consider deals for everyone on its roster with the exception of four cornerstone players: Dylan Cease, Andrew Vaughn, Eloy Jimenez and All-Star Luis Robert Jr.
Notably missing from that list is shortstop Tim Anderson who was named to the All-Star team for the second year in a row in 2022. The AL batting champion in 2019 and a Silver Slugger Award winner in 2020, Anderson became the first White Sox shortstop to start in the All-Star game (2022) since Luis Aparicio in 1970.
The 2023 campaign, however, has not been nice to Anderson or the White Sox. Anderson is batting a career-worst .223 and has yet to hit a home run through 67 games played (274 at-bats).
It’s fair to assume that Anderson would benefit from a change of scenery and now that the White Sox are reportedly sellers, the two-time All-Star might be afforded that opportunity before the August 1 MLB trade deadline. With that in mind, here are five possible landing spots for Anderson.
A “stalk-off” win for the White Sox!
A no-doubt home run by Tim Anderson off Zach Britton gives the White Sox a walk-off win in the first-ever Field of Dreams win. 🌽 ⚾️
